Wish. (poem)

​Originally published elsewhere, 04 May 2013.  But it feels like today is good for it to fly, again.
A detour out to the back stoop

a thanksgiving to the big dipper 

directly  overhead pouring Ursa’s major graces 

in big sloppy invisible pools 

Standing waist-deep in the waters of abundance and humility

I pray

for a soul to reach safely to the other side
for protection of those I cherish

for common sense 

and uncommon experiences

for unbelievable stories and 

unimagined good Love

– no, unimaginable Great Love

shooting stars flair across 

the cup handle Hotstruck embers 

off a blacksmith’s anvil 

forcefully hammering out 


again and again
