September 11th.

I hope you hear it, today:

The common man,

the working parents,

the bus drivers and postal workers,

Firefighters, EMTs, cowboys,

farmhands, nurses,

pencil-pushers and deli counter aprons,

retired or newly hired,

teachers and lawncutters,

baymen, flight attendants, food merchants,

desk jockeys, writers, vintners and stage hands:

In hospital or garden, skyscraper or tent —

all humming the same song in different notes and unique rhythms

The Song of America.
“…From the Mountains
To the Prairies

To the oceans, white with foam…

God Bless America,
My Home Sweet Home.”
